Exploring Twin Mountain
Location and Roads
Twin Mountain is easy to find. It sits right where two main roads meet. These roads are U.S. Route 3 and U.S. Route 302. They are important routes that go through the White Mountain notches. A notch is like a low pass between mountains. The Ammonoosuc River also flows right through the center of the village.
Postal Code
Even though Twin Mountain is part of Carroll, it has its own special ZIP code. This code is 03595. The rest of the town of Carroll uses a different ZIP code.
Twin Mountain Airport
Twin Mountain also has a small airport. It is called Twin Mountain Airport. You can find it about 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) southwest of where Route 3 and Route 302 meet. This airport first opened in 1964.
Airport Details
The airport has one runway. Its height above sea level is 1,459 feet (445 meters). The FAA gives it a special code: 8B2. Air traffic controllers in Boston Center help guide planes flying near here. Pilots can also get information from the Bangor, Maine flight service station. As of 2019, most of the flights at this airport are for general aviation. This means small private planes use it for travel or local flights.
