About North Twin Mountain
North Twin Mountain is a popular spot for hikers. It's one of the "White Mountain 4000-Footers". This means its peak is over 4,000 feet (1,219 meters) high. In fact, North Twin Mountain reaches an elevation of 1,451 meters (4,760 feet)!
Where the Water Flows
Water from North Twin Mountain travels a long way. The rain and snow that fall on the north and east sides of the mountain flow into the Little River. This river then joins the Ammonoosuc River. From there, the water continues into the mighty Connecticut River. Eventually, it reaches the ocean at Long Island Sound in Connecticut.
The water from the west side of North Twin Mountain takes a slightly different path. It drains into the North Branch of the Gale River. The Gale River is also a tributary of the Ammonoosuc River. So, all the water from North Twin Mountain eventually makes its way to the Connecticut River.
Reaching the Summit
If you want to climb to the top of North Twin Mountain, you can use the North Twin Trail. This trail starts from the village of Twin Mountain. It follows the beautiful Little River valley as it climbs up the mountain.
The North Twin Trail doesn't stop at the summit of North Twin. It continues south along the ridge of the Twin Range. This path connects North Twin Mountain to South Twin Mountain. It's a great way to explore both peaks!
