The UEFA Euro 1992 was a big football tournament for European national teams. It was the 9th time this championship was held. The official name was the 1992 UEFA European Football Championship. It took place in Sweden from June 10 to June 26, 1992.
Eight teams made it to the main part of the tournament. The defending champions were the Netherlands. But in a huge surprise, Denmark won the tournament! They beat Germany in the final match.

Group Stage
The eight teams were split into two groups, Group 1 and Group 2. Each team played every other team in their group once. The top two teams from each group moved on to the knockout stage.

Knockout Stage
This stage was like a mini-tournament where teams played single-elimination matches. If a team lost, they were out!
Semi-finals
The semi-finals were played on June 21 and 22.
- Sweden played against Germany. Germany won this exciting match 3-2.
- Netherlands played against Denmark. This game ended 2-2 after extra time. Denmark then won 5-4 in a penalty shootout, which was a huge upset!
Final Match
The final was played on June 26, 1992, in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Denmark, who were not even supposed to be in the tournament (they replaced Yugoslavia at the last minute), beat Germany 2-0! This was one of the biggest surprises in football history.
