Víctor Muñoz Manrique, born on March 15, 1957, is a Spanish former football player and manager. As a player, he was simply known as Víctor.
He spent most of his playing career as a midfielder for Barcelona. With Barcelona, he won six important titles. He played in 332 games in La Liga, scoring 25 goals. He also played for his hometown club, Zaragoza.
Víctor was also a key player for the Spanish national team in the 1980s. He played in the 1986 World Cup and two European Championships. After retiring as a player, he became a football manager. He led four top-division teams and won the Copa del Rey with Zaragoza in 2004.

Playing Career: A Midfielder's Journey
Víctor was born in Zaragoza, a city in Aragon, Spain. He started his professional football journey with his local team, Real Zaragoza. After playing there for a few years, he joined the powerful La Liga club, FC Barcelona.
Time at FC Barcelona
Víctor played for Barcelona for seven years and was a very important player for the team. One of his memorable moments was on June 4, 1983. He scored the first goal in a 2–1 win against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final. This is a big cup competition in Spain.
Playing Abroad: Italy and Scotland
Víctor was one of the first Spanish players to play in Serie A, which is Italy's top football league. He spent two seasons playing for UC Sampdoria. After his time in Italy, he had a short period playing for St Mirren in Scotland. He even played alongside his former Barcelona teammate, Steve Archibald, there. He then returned to Zaragoza to finish his playing career at the age of 34.
Playing for Spain: International Matches
Víctor was a regular player for the Spanish national team throughout most of the 1980s. He played his first game for Spain on March 25, 1981, in a friendly match against England. He went on to play 59 more games for his country, scoring three goals.
He represented Spain in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. He also played in the UEFA Euro 1984 tournament, where Spain finished as runners-up to the host country, France. He also played in the 1988 European Championship. He stopped playing for the national team right after that tournament.

Style of Play: A Strong Midfielder
Víctor was known as a very strong and all-around midfielder. He was especially good at using his physical strength to tire out his opponents early in the game.
Coaching Career: Leading Teams to Victory
After his playing days, Víctor Muñoz started working as a football manager in the mid-1990s. He managed several teams, including RCD Mallorca, CD Logroñés, UE Lleida, Villarreal CF, and his former club, Real Zaragoza.
Winning the Copa del Rey with Zaragoza
One of his biggest achievements as a manager was with Zaragoza. In the 2003–04 domestic cup, his team won 3–2 in extra time against Real Madrid's famous "Galácticos" team. This was a huge victory!
Managing in Greece and Back in Spain
In October 2006, Muñoz signed a two-year contract to manage Panathinaikos FC in Greece. However, he returned to Spain in June 2007 to manage Recreativo de Huelva. He later managed Getafe CF for the 2008–09 season.
Later Coaching Roles
After a break from football, Muñoz became the head coach of FC Terek Grozny in Russia in late 2010. He then moved to Switzerland, managing Neuchâtel Xamax FCS in September 2011 and later FC Sion from December 2012 to February 2013.
In March 2014, Víctor Muñoz returned to manage Real Zaragoza once more. He left the club in November of the same year.
