Vasile Marin (born January 29, 1904, in Bucharest, Romania – died January 13, 1937, in Majadahonda, Spain) was a Romanian politician and lawyer. He was first part of the National Peasants' Party. Later, he became an important member of the Iron Guard. This was a Romanian group with fascist ideas. Vasile Marin and another leader, Ion Moța, died fighting in the Spanish Civil War. Their deaths helped the Iron Guard become more popular.

About Vasile Marin's Life
Vasile Marin studied law at the University of Bucharest. In 1932, he finished his main paper, called a thesis. The topic of his thesis was "Fascism".
Family Life
In February 1933, Vasile Marin married Ana-Maria Ropală. The leader of the Iron Guard, Corneliu Zelea Codreanu, approved their marriage. Ana-Maria's mother was Jewish and had become a Christian. Her father was a Romanian army officer. Ana-Maria herself was a medical doctor. Her brother, Cătălin, was also a member of the Iron Guard.
Joining the Spanish Civil War
In December 1936, Vasile Marin and Ion Moța traveled to Spain. They led a small group of Iron Guard members. Spain was in the middle of a big conflict called the Spanish Civil War. They went to give a special sword to soldiers who had survived a tough battle called the Siege of the Alcázar. They also announced that the Iron Guard supported the Nationalist side in the war. After this, they decided to join the fighting themselves.
Their Deaths and Funerals
Both Ion Moța and Vasile Marin died on January 13, 1937. This was on their first day of fighting near Majadahonda, close to Madrid. Their bodies were brought back to Bucharest, Romania. Their funerals on February 13, 1937, were very large and public events. Many important people attended, including representatives from Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Francisco Franco's Spain. Delegates from Portugal, Japan, and Poland were also there.
Memorial in Spain
On September 13, 1970, a monument was built in their memory. It was placed in Majadahonda, Spain. The government of Francisco Franco supported the building of this memorial.
