Vernate is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Lugano area of Ticino canton in Switzerland. It is a part of the beautiful Swiss countryside.

Geography of Vernate
Vernate covers an area of about 1.51 square kilometers (0.58 square miles). A large part of this area, about 82.8%, is covered by forests. About 15.2% of the land is used for farming. The remaining 12.6% has buildings and roads.
Most of the built-up area includes homes and other buildings. A smaller part is used for roads and transportation. The forests are mostly dense, with some areas having orchards or small groups of trees. For farming, some land is used for growing crops, and some for orchards or vineyards.
Vernate's Coat of Arms
The official symbol, or coat of arms, of Vernate shows a blue shield with a silver stripe across the middle. On this stripe, there is an arrow pointing down on the right side and a walking stick pointing up on the left side. These symbols are special because they represent Saint Roch and Saint Sebastian. These two saints are the protectors of the local church in Vernate.
