Vignogn was once a small town, or municipality, located in the Surselva area of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. On January 1, 2013, Vignogn joined with several other nearby towns. These included Cumbel, Degen, Lumbrein, Morissen, Suraua, Vella, and Vrin. Together, they formed a new, larger municipality called Lumnezia.

A Look Back: Vignogn's History
Vignogn has a long history. It was first written about in the year 1325, where it was called Vinanne. Later, in 1469, its name appeared as Viends. For many years, until 1983, the town was known as Vigens.
Exploring Vignogn's Geography
Vignogn covered an area of about 7.9 square kilometers (3.1 square miles) as of 2006. A large part of this land, about 57.4%, was used for farming. Forests covered another 31.3% of the area. Only a small portion, 2.7%, had buildings or roads. The remaining 8.6% was made up of natural features like rivers, glaciers, or mountains.
The former town of Vignogn is a linear village, meaning its buildings stretch out along a road. It sits at an elevation of about 1,241 meters (4,072 feet) at the base of a mountain called Piz Sezner.
