Her Early Life
Viktoriya Sasonkina was born in Odesa, a city in Ukraine. When she was a child, she loved art. She took drawing lessons for seven years. Viktoriya never thought about becoming a model.
After high school, she went to a model tryout to support a friend. But something surprising happened! A talent scout named Stas Yankelevskiy noticed Viktoriya instead. He was from the L-Models agency. He then invited her to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.
Her Modeling Career
Starting Out
When Viktoriya was 17, she signed a contract with Premium Models. This is a big modeling agency in Paris. She first walked on a fashion runway for Issey Miyake's Spring 2007 show. After that, she moved to London for her modeling jobs.
In February 2007, Viktoriya had her first big photo shoot. It was for Italian Elle magazine.
Working with Top Names
In 2008, Viktoriya signed with Women Management. This is a leading modeling agency in New York and Milan. She also started working with a very famous photographer, Steven Meisel. Viktoriya has said that Meisel was like a "godfather" for her modeling career.
She became one of Meisel's favorite models. He photographed her for a Calvin Klein Jeans ad campaign. He also shot her for two covers of Vogue Italia magazine. These covers were in September 2008 and January 2009.
