The main Warcraft series has five core games. These include strategy games where you command armies, a huge online role-playing game where you play with thousands of others, and a fun digital card game.

What are the Warcraft Games?
The Warcraft universe started with strategy games. These are called real-time strategy (RTS) games. In these games, you build bases, gather resources, and lead armies into battle. You can play against the computer or other players.
The first three main games are RTS titles:
- Warcraft: Orcs & Humans
- Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness
- Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos
World of Warcraft: A Huge Online Adventure
The fourth and most famous game is World of Warcraft. This is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). In an MMORPG, you create your own character. Then you explore a giant virtual world with many other players. You can go on quests, fight monsters, and team up with friends.
Hearthstone: A Digital Card Game
The newest main game is Hearthstone. This is a digital collectible card game. You collect cards with different characters and spells. Then you use them to battle other players in quick, fun matches.
Expanding the Adventure
Many expansion packs have been released for the Warcraft games. These add new stories, characters, and places to explore.
- Warcraft II got Beyond the Dark Portal.
- Warcraft III got The Frozen Throne.
- World of Warcraft has many expansions, like The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Battle for Azeroth.
In 2018, Blizzard announced Warcraft III: Reforged. This is a new version of Warcraft III with updated graphics and characters.
Welcome to Azeroth!
All the Warcraft games take place in a cool high fantasy world called Azeroth. It's a land filled with magic, monsters, and brave heroes.
The First Wars
The story first focused on the human kingdoms in the Eastern Kingdoms. Then, the Orcish Horde arrived in Azeroth through a dark portal. This started huge wars between humans and orcs. The Orcs came from another world called Draenor. Later, Draenor was shattered by powerful magic and became known as Outland.
Exploring New Lands and Races
As the series grew, the world of Azeroth got much bigger. New continents were discovered, like Kalimdor, Northrend, and Pandaria. This brought in new races, such as the Night Elves, Tauren, and Pandaren.
Azeroth is also home to classic fantasy creatures. You'll find elves, dwarves, gnomes, orcs, and trolls living there.
Stories, Comics, and Movies
The Warcraft universe isn't just about games! There are many books and comics that tell even more stories. They explore different characters and events from the Warcraft timeline.
There was also a physical collectible card game. Some of its booster packs even gave special codes for unique items in World of Warcraft.
In 2016, a movie based on the games, called Warcraft, was released. It brought the world of Azeroth to the big screen!
