Waverly is a small town located in Franklin County, New York, United States. In 2010, about 1,022 people lived here. The town is found on the western edge of Franklin County, a bit southwest of Malone.

History of Waverly
How Waverly Was Formed
The town of Waverly was created in 1880. It was originally part of another town called Dickinson. Later, in 1890, about half of Waverly's land became part of a new town. This new town is known today as Tupper Lake.
Lumber and Railroads
The area around St. Regis Falls, which is in Waverly, was once a very important place for producing lumber. Lumber is wood that has been cut and prepared for building. To help move all this wood, the Northern Adirondack Railroad was built. This railroad started in Moira and connected the area to another big railroad line, the Ogdensburg and Lake Champlain Railroad.
Historic Sites
In 2001, the Azure Mountain Fire Observation Station was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is a special list of places in the United States that are important to history.

Waverly covers a total area of about 327.4 square kilometers (about 126.4 square miles). Most of this area, about 324.0 square kilometers (125.1 square miles), is land. The rest, about 3.4 square kilometers (1.3 square miles), is water.
Location and Natural Features
The western edge of Waverly borders St. Lawrence County. The entire town is located inside the Adirondack Park. This park is a huge protected area known for its beautiful forests, mountains, and lakes. The St. Regis River flows through the northern part of the town. It passes by the small community of St. Regis Falls, which is the largest settlement in Waverly.
Main Roads
New York State Route 458 is a highway that runs from east to west through the northern part of the town.
