The Wepawaug River is a cool stream in New Haven County, Connecticut. It starts in Woodbridge and flows through Orange and Milford. Finally, it empties into Milford Harbor, which connects to Long Island Sound.

Long ago, in 1640, English settlers built a special mill by the river. This was a grist mill, which used the river's power to grind grain into flour.

Later, during the American Civil War, another mill in Orange used the river's power. This mill helped make fabric for the uniforms worn by Union soldiers.
