Places in Wexford Township
Wexford Township is home to several smaller communities. Some of these are still active, while others are historical sites.
Bagnall Community
- Bagnall is a small, unnamed community within the township. It was settled in 1888. A railway station was built here along the Ann Arbor Railroad. A post office opened in 1889, first called Farnsworth. It was later renamed Bagnall in 1902. The post office is no longer in use today.
Claggettville Settlement
- Claggettville was a settlement founded in 1897. It was located near the Ann Arbor Railroad, west of Sherman. Claggettville was also known as West Sherman. It was once the site of a large mill.
Harlan Community
- Harlan is another unnamed community. It sits on the border with Manistee County. This community also started as a railway station in 1888. A post office opened in Harlan in 1890 and closed in 1935.
Sherman Community
- Sherman is an unnamed community. It is located in the southeast part of the township. Parts of Sherman also extend into nearby townships.
Wexford Settlement
- Wexford was an early settlement in the township. It was settled as early as 1865. A post office was established here in 1865. The community was also called Hanover. A fire destroyed much of Wexford in 1906. It was partly rebuilt but later became abandoned.
Wexford Corner Community
- Wexford Corner is an unnamed community in the northeast part of the township. It is just northwest of the village of Buckley. This spot is a four-way intersection. It connects Wexford County with Grand Traverse County.

Main Roads
- M-37 is a major highway. It forms most of the eastern border of the township.
- M-115 is another highway. It passes through a very small part of the southwest corner.
