Copemish (pronounced COPE-mish) is a small village in Manistee County, Michigan. It's located in the U.S. state of Michigan. In 2020, about 195 people lived there. The village is part of Cleon Township.

History of Copemish
Copemish was officially planned out in 1889. It became an official village in 1891. Before it was a village, the Ojibwe people used this area for important meetings.
From the 1940s to the early 1970s, Copemish was a busy place for making pickles. Many big pickle companies had operations nearby. Today, farming is done more locally. The area's economy now focuses on Crystal Mountain. This is a fancy resort about 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest of the village. Copemish also has a regular flea market and auction.
Geography of Copemish
Copemish is in the northeast part of Manistee County. It sits along M-115, a main road. This road goes northwest for 14 miles (23 km) to Benzonia. It also goes southeast for 12 miles (19 km) to Mesick.
Manistee, which is the main town of the county, is about 31 miles (50 km) southwest. Cadillac is about 32 miles (51 km) southeast.
The village of Copemish covers a total area of about 0.97 square miles (2.5 km2). Most of this area, about 0.93 square miles (2.4 km2), is land. A small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2), is water. First Creek flows through the south side of the village. This creek eventually flows into Bear Creek, which then joins the Manistee River.

Copemish Population in 2010
In 2010, there were 194 people living in Copemish. These people lived in 78 households. About 53 of these households were families.
Most people living in the village were White (93.3%). Some were Native American (1.5%) or from other backgrounds (5.2%). About 13.4% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
