Weymouth Beach is a lovely, curving sandy beach. It is located in Weymouth Bay, right next to the town of Weymouth in Dorset, England. A wide walkway called The Esplanade runs along the beach.
This beach is a very popular place for swimming in the sea. Even King George III used to visit it. He came here when he was feeling unwell. The King called Weymouth his 'first resort'. He helped make sea bathing very popular in the area. Doctors advised King George III to try the waters. This was after he first became ill with porphyria.
The sand at Weymouth Beach is perfect for building sandcastles. It was even voted the best for this! You can also visit Sandworld nearby. This place has amazing sculptures made entirely from sand.
Weymouth Beach is very wide and gently slopes into the sea. It has golden sand and shallow waters. The waves are usually small and calm. Besides swimming, the large beach is used for other fun activities. These include beach motocross and volleyball.
