Windham is a small community in Greene County, New York, United States. It is known as a hamlet, which is a small settlement, and also a census-designated place (CDP). A CDP is a special area set up by the U.S. Census Bureau for collecting population data.
In 2020, about 371 people lived in the Windham CDP. The larger area, called the town of Windham, had a total of 1,708 residents. Windham is located in the western part of its town, right on Route 23. This community has had a few different names over time, including "Batavia," "Osbornville," and "Windham Center."

Where is Windham Located?
Windham is found at 42°18′41″N 74°14′49″W / 42.31139°N 74.24694°W. It sits in a valley near a stream called the Batavia Kill. This stream flows west and eventually joins the Schoharie Creek, which is part of the larger Mohawk River system.
The community is also located at the northern edge of the beautiful Catskill Park. According to the United States Census Bureau, the Windham CDP covers a total area of about 4.9 square kilometers (or 1.9 square miles), and all of this area is land.

Based on the census from the year 2000, there were 359 people living in Windham. These people lived in 172 households, and 97 of these were families. The population density was about 191.4 people per square mile (or 73.9 people per square kilometer). There were also 422 housing units, with an average of 225.0 units per square mile (or 86.9 per square kilometer).
Most of the people in Windham were White (98.61%), and a small percentage (1.39%) were Native American. About 1.11% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
