Where the Water Goes
Every mountain has a "watershed," which is like a giant funnel. All the rain and snow that falls on Windham High Peak eventually flows into different streams and rivers. This water then travels all the way to the Hudson River.
Streams Flowing from the Peak
Water from the south and northwest sides of Windham High Peak flows into a stream called Batavia Kill. This stream then joins Schoharie Creek, which flows into the Mohawk River, and finally into the Hudson River. On the northeast side, water goes into Bowery Creek. This creek then joins Catskill Creek before reaching the Hudson River. All these waterways eventually lead to New York Bay.
