Yannick Bolasie (born 24 May 1989) is a professional footballer. He plays as a winger for the Brazilian club Cruzeiro.
Yannick has played for many teams in England. These include Plymouth Argyle, Crystal Palace, and Everton. He was born in France and grew up in England. He also played 50 games for the DR Congo national team.

Yannick Bolasie's Football Journey
Starting His Club Career
Yannick Bolasie started playing football at age 16. He joined the youth team at Rushden & Diamonds. After that, he played for Hillingdon Borough. He then moved to Europe to play for Floriana in Malta.
In 2008, he came back to England. He had a trial with Plymouth Argyle and got a two-year contract. He also played on loan for Rushden & Diamonds and Barnet. At Barnet, he scored his first goal in a 3–3 draw against Grimsby Town.
Playing for Plymouth Argyle

Yannick returned to Plymouth Argyle in 2010. He quickly showed his skills. In one game, he came on as a substitute and helped his team win 3–1. He scored his first goal for Plymouth against Sheffield United. He played 16 games in the Championship that season.
Plymouth Argyle was relegated to League One. But Yannick signed a new contract. He continued to play well for the club.
Time at Bristol City
In 2011, Bolasie moved to Bristol City. He signed a two-year contract. He scored his first goal for them in a 3–1 win against Coventry City. Fans even voted him Young Player of the Year. In 2012, he asked to leave the club to move back to London.
Crystal Palace Success
In August 2012, Bolasie joined Crystal Palace. He signed a three-year contract. He helped Palace get promoted to the Premier League in 2013. They won the 2013 Football League Championship play-off final by beating Watford 1–0.
Yannick made his Premier League debut in October 2013. He scored his first Premier League goal against Everton in 2014. On 11 April 2015, he scored three goals in just 11 minutes against Sunderland. This was a hat-trick, and he was the first Crystal Palace player to score one in the Premier League! He signed a new contract with Crystal Palace in 2015.
Moving to Everton and Loan Spells
On 15 August 2016, Bolasie joined Everton. He was transferred for a large fee. He played his first game for Everton a few days later. In December 2016, he got a serious knee injury. This kept him out of the game for a long time. He returned to play in December 2017.
Later, Yannick went on several loan spells:
- In 2018, he joined Aston Villa for a season.
- Then, he moved to the Belgian team Anderlecht.
- In 2019, he played for the Portuguese club Sporting CP.
- In 2021, he joined Middlesbrough on loan. He scored his first goal for them in April 2021.
Later Career Clubs
In August 2021, Bolasie moved to Turkey. He joined Süper Lig club Çaykur Rizespor. He played 53 games and scored 19 goals for them. His goals helped Rizespor get promoted back to the Süper Lig.
In November 2023, Yannick signed a short contract with Swansea City. He played 10 games but did not score any goals. He left the club in January 2024.
In March 2024, Bolasie made a surprising move to Brazil. He joined Criciúma. By July, he had scored two goals and made two assists in 13 matches.
In December 2024, it was announced that Bolasie would play for Cruzeiro in the 2025 season.
International Career
Yannick Bolasie could play for France, England, or DR Congo. He chose to play for the DR Congo. In March 2013, he played his first international game. It was a 0–0 draw against Libya.
He was part of the DR Congo squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. He scored a goal in their first game, a 1–1 draw against Zambia. His team finished in third place in the tournament.
Personal Life
Yannick's parents were born in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). He was born in Lyon, France. But he moved to England when he was seven months old. He grew up in London.
He has several cousins who are also footballers. These include Lomana LuaLua, Kazenga LuaLua, and Trésor Kandol. His younger brother, Ruddock Yala, also plays football. Yannick is also interested in grime music. In 2014, he filmed a rap battle with another footballer, Bradley Wright-Phillips.
