Yannick Bolasie, born on May 24, 1989, is a professional football player. He plays as a winger for Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club Cruzeiro.
He has played for many teams in England. These include Plymouth Argyle, Barnet, Bristol City, Crystal Palace, Everton, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, and Swansea City.
Yannick was born in France and grew up in England. He played 50 games for the DR Congo national team between 2013 and 2022.

Yannick Bolasie's Football Journey
Starting Out in Football
Bolasie began his football journey at Rushden & Diamonds when he was 16. He spent four months in their youth team. After that, he played for Hillingdon Borough in England.
Later, he moved to Europe to play for Floriana in Malta. In 2008, he came back to England. He had a trial with Plymouth Argyle and impressed them. They offered him a two-year contract.
He also played on loan for Rushden & Diamonds again. He made his first game for them on November 29. He played seven games before returning to Argyle in January 2009. Bolasie then joined Barnet on loan. He played his first Football League game on January 24, 2009. Two weeks later, he scored his first goal for Barnet.
Playing for Plymouth Argyle

Bolasie returned to Plymouth Argyle in January 2010. He had played 22 more games for Barnet and scored two goals. The new manager, Paul Mariner, gave him a chance. Yannick played his first game for Plymouth on February 13, 2010. He helped his team turn a 1-0 loss into a 3-1 win.
He scored his first goal for Plymouth two weeks later. He ended the season with 16 games in the Championship. However, the team was moved down to League One. Plymouth offered Bolasie a new contract in April 2010, and he signed it in July.
Time at Bristol City
Bolasie moved to Bristol City on June 6, 2011. He signed a two-year contract. He scored his first goal for the club in a 3-1 win on April 9, 2012.
Fans voted him Young Player of the Year that month. In August 2012, he asked to leave the club. He wanted to move back to London.
Success with Crystal Palace
In August 2012, Bolasie signed a three-year contract with Crystal Palace. He played his first game for them in a 2-1 loss. He scored his first goal for Palace in a big 5-0 home win.
He was a substitute when Palace won 1-0 against Watford. This win helped them get promoted to the Premier League for the 2013–14 season.
Bolasie played his first Premier League game on October 5, 2013. He scored his first Premier League goal on September 21, 2014. On April 11, 2015, Bolasie scored three goals in just 11 minutes. This was against Sunderland in a 4-1 win. He was the first Crystal Palace player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League. He signed a new contract with Crystal Palace in the 2015–16 season.
Moving to Everton
On August 15, 2016, Bolasie joined Everton. He made his first game for them five days later. He started his first game for Everton in a 4-0 win.
Bolasie got a serious knee injury on December 4, 2016. He was out of action until December 26, 2017. In October 2020, the manager said Bolasie was not in his plans. Bolasie left the club in June 2021.
Loan Spells
Bolasie played for several clubs on loan from Everton.
- In August 2018, he joined Aston Villa for a season.
- In January, he moved to Belgian team Anderlecht.
- In September 2019, he joined Portuguese club Sporting CP.
- On January 28, 2021, Bolasie moved to Middlesbrough. He scored his first goal for them on April 5, 2021.
Playing in Turkey
In August 2021, Bolasie moved to Turkey. He joined Süper Lig club Çaykur Rizespor. He played 53 games for the club and scored 19 goals. He was one of the top scorers in the 2022–23 league. His goals helped Rizespor get back into the Süper Lig.
Return to England
On November 27, 2023, Bolasie signed a short contract with Swansea City. He played 10 games for them but did not score any goals. He left the club on January 29, 2024.
Playing in Brazil
In March 2024, Bolasie made a surprising move. He joined Brazilian club Criciúma. By July, he had scored two goals and made two assists in thirteen games.
On December 27, 2024, it was announced that Bolasie would play for Cruzeiro in the 2025 season. This move followed his successful time at Criciúma.
International Career
Bolasie could play for France, England, or DR Congo. In January 2013, he chose not to play for DR Congo in the Africa Cup of Nations. He wanted to focus on his club career.
In March 2013, Bolasie was called up again to the Democratic Republic of Congo squad. He played his first international game in a 0-0 draw against Libya.
Bolasie was part of the Congolese team for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. He scored a goal in their first game, a 1-1 draw against Zambia. His team finished in third place in the tournament.
About Yannick's Life
Yannick's parents were born in Zaire, which is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Bolasie was born in Lyon, France. He moved to England when he was seven months old. He grew up in London.
Some of his cousins are also footballers. These include Lomana LuaLua, Kazenga LuaLua, and Trésor Kandol. His younger brother, Ruddock Yala, also plays football.
Bolasie is also interested in grime music. In 2014, he filmed a rap battle with another footballer, Bradley Wright-Phillips. This was for a grime DVD series called "Lord of the Mics".
