Yury Aleksandrovich Dud (Russian: Ю́рий Алекса́ндрович Дудь, also spelled Yuri Dud; born 11 October 1986) is a Russian journalist and YouTuber. He is famous for his online videos where he interviews many different people. Since 2018, he has been a top leader at the sports website Sports.ru [ru]. Before that, he was the main editor there from 2011 to 2018.

In 2017, Yury started his YouTube channel called vDud (Russian: вДудь). On this channel, he talks to people from Russia and other nearby countries. His channel is very popular in Russia, with over ten million subscribers by early 2022. He has interviewed people who have different ideas about the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. This has made him well-known around the world. In April 2022, he released a film called Man in War, which looked at the challenges faced by people who had to leave Ukraine.

Early Life and Family Background

Yury Dud was born on October 11, 1986, in Potsdam, which was then in East Germany. His father, Alexander Petrovich Dud, was a professor. His mother, Anna Stepanovna Dud, was a chemistry teacher.

In 1990, when Yury was four years old, his family moved to Moscow, Russia. He has lived in Russia ever since. Yury sees himself as having Ukrainian family roots, but he identifies as Russian.

Starting Out in Journalism

Yury Dud began his journalism career early. In 2001, he started working as a freelance writer for the Russian newspaper Izvestia. By the time he was 16, he became a full-time journalist there.

He continued his education and graduated from the MSU Faculty of Journalism in 2008. In 2007, Yury also started working for a sports magazine called PROSPORT.ru.

Working in Television

From 2011 to 2013, Yury hosted a TV show called "Headbutt" on the channel Russia-2. Later, from 2015 to 2017, he hosted another show called "KultTura" on the new channel Match TV. This show eventually stopped airing.

Yury was also the editor-in-chief of Sports.ru [ru] from 2011 to 2018. After that, he became the deputy director-general of the website.

The Success of vDud on YouTube

In February 2017, Yury Dud launched his YouTube channel, vDud (вДудь). On this channel, he interviews famous people. These guests include musicians, politicians, journalists, film directors, and business leaders.

The channel quickly became very popular. For example, his interview with influencer Nastya Ivleeva in 2018 got over 30 million views. By June 2020, his channel had received over one billion views in total.

Yury Dud is married to Olga Dud (whose maiden name was Boneva). They have two children together.

In February 2022, after Russia began its actions in Ukraine, Yury spoke out against them. He publicly asked for Russian troops to leave Ukraine. His post on Facebook expressing his views received over 1 million likes. Yury described the situation as an "imperial frenzy" that he did not want to be a part of.

Because of his public statements, a complaint was filed against him. On April 15, the Ministry of Justice labeled Yury Dud as a "foreign agent." This is a label given by the government to certain individuals or groups. After this, he left Russia to continue his work from Istanbul.
