Zhong Chenle (Chinese: 钟辰乐; born on November 22, 2001), known simply as Chenle (Hangul: 천러), is a singer and actor from China. He is now based in South Korea. Chenle started singing when he was a child. He performed in many concerts and TV shows both in China and other countries.
When he was nine, Chenle became the youngest singer to perform alone at the Golden Hall of Vienna. This is a very famous concert hall. As a solo artist, Chenle released three albums and held one concert in China. At age fourteen, he joined a South Korean company called SM Entertainment. He moved to South Korea in 2016. Soon after, he became a member of the K-pop boy band NCT. He joined its special group called NCT Dream. NCT Dream is now one of the most popular boy groups in South Korea.

Early Life and School
Zhong Chenle was born in Shanghai, China, on November 22, 2001. He has an older brother who is 13 years older than him. Before moving to Korea, he went to Shangwen Middle School. Later, he studied at the Beijing Contemporary Music School and finished in 2020.
In 2006, Chenle started dance classes at the Shanghai Ying Siu Sing School. In 2008, he joined the Shanghai Little Star Art Troupe. There, he learned how to sing from a teacher named Huang Jing.
Career Journey
2009–2015: Starting as a Solo Singer in China
In 2009, Chenle took part in a children's TV show competition. He came in second place and won an award. He became well-known in 2010 when he appeared on China's Got Talent. He sang "Memory" from the musical Cats. In the same year, he won a gold medal in a national talent competition for young Chinese people. Chenle also appeared on TV as part of a duo called 0090.
In September 2010, Chenle signed a music deal with Lin Teng Culture Media. He released three albums with them.
On January 25, 2011, when he was nine, Chenle was asked to sing at the Chinese New Year concert in Vienna, Austria. He was the youngest singer to perform alone at the Golden Hall of Vienna. In June, Chenle played a main role in a children's musical called Joy of Growing Up. On June 16, he led the audience in singing the Chinese national anthem at a music event in the Shanghai Grand Theater. In July, Chenle released his second album, My Wings, which had twelve songs. He also performed at the Shanghai International Children's Art Festival.
In December 2012, Chenle was chosen as a district leader for the Young Pioneers of China in Shanghai.
In 2013, Chenle was on the first season of Let's Sing Kids, a singing show. He also had a small acting role in the Chinese TV show The Queen of SOP 2 when he was 11.
In 2014, Chenle held his first solo concert called "Music With You" in Shanghai. He released a concert album with the same name. Chenle also became a young cultural diplomat for China. He performed a song called "The Dragon's Romance" in Argentina.
In 2015, Chenle traveled to countries like South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. He performed as part of a student group called "Chinese Cultural Paradise." During his time as a child performer, he sang many cover songs, including some by Declan Galbraith.
2016–Present: Joining NCT and NCT Dream
In 2015, SM Entertainment offered Chenle a chance to join their company. He signed with them in March 2016. In August 2016, at age 14, Chenle officially joined NCT Dream. This group is a part of the larger K-pop group NCT.
On May 20, 2020, Chenle and fellow NCT member Renjun released a song called "A New Beginning." This song was for their graduation from Beijing Contemporary Music Academy. Chenle also hosted a Chinese radio show called Yuedong Seoul from October 2020 to September 2021. He also joined NCT U, another NCT group, and sang on the song "From Home" for NCT's album NCT 2020 Resonance.
In February 2021, Chenle was featured on a song called "Too Good" by IMLAY. In March 2022, he hurt his ankle before NCT Dream's Glitch Mode album promotions. He still chose to perform, but in a limited way. On December 6, 2023, Chenle released his first song that he helped produce, "Marine Turtle." He sang this with NCT U as part of the NCT Lab project. In January 2024, Chenle sang "Do It (Let's Play)." This was the theme song for the NCT Zone mobile game. He sang it with other NCT members like Jungwoo, Xiaojun, Jeno, and Yangyang. On May 31, 2024, it was announced that Chenle would sing "Live and Love." This song is the ending theme for the Chinese TV show The Double.
Helping Others
In May 2017, Chenle and his NCT Dream bandmate Renjun volunteered in Nanjing, China. They worked with CJ Dream Classroom. This program helps children of Chinese workers get better education in arts and culture.
