The 2023 Australian Open was a huge tennis tournament. It's one of the four biggest tennis events each year, called a Grand Slam. This event took place at Melbourne Park in Australia from January 16 to 29, 2023. It was the 111th time the Australian Open was held.

Many professional players competed in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Young players and wheelchair athletes also had their own tournaments. Kia was the main sponsor, just like in previous years.

Novak Djokovic won the men's singles title. This was his tenth win at the Australian Open. It also made him tie Rafael Nadal for the most major titles ever, with 22 wins. Djokovic was allowed to play this year because the rules about travel had changed. He had not been able to play in 2022. Aryna Sabalenka won the women's singles title. This was her first major singles win. The previous women's champion, Ashleigh Barty, had retired from tennis.

For the first time since 2020, many fans could attend the tournament. Over 900,000 people were expected to watch the matches. This was exciting after a few years with fewer fans due to health rules.
