  • Publius Quinctilius Varus became the new governor of Germania. His job was to organize the lands between the Rhine and Elbe rivers. He counted the people, set up taxes, and recruited soldiers. These actions made the Germanic tribes very unhappy.
  • Abgarus of Edessa was removed from his position as king of Osroene.
  • Building work started on the important Temple of Concord in Rome.

  • In China, a man named Zhai Yi, who was a governor, declared that Liu Xin should be the new emperor. This was the biggest rebellion against the young Emperor Ruzi of Han.
  • However, Wang Mang, a powerful official, quickly stopped this rebellion during the winter. Zhai Yi was caught and executed, but Liu Xin managed to get away.
