10 AD was a year in the 1st century. It was a common year that started on a Wednesday in the Julian calendar. During this time, people in the Roman Empire called it the year of the consulship of Dolabella and Silanus. A Roman consul was a very important leader, like a top government official.

Events of 10 AD
Changes in Europe
- Some groups of Germanic tribes, known as the Irminones, began to become more distinct from each other. These tribes lived in parts of ancient Europe.
- The Greek rulers in a place called Bactria (which is now parts of Afghanistan and Central Asia) lost their power. Their rule in that region came to an end.
- Publius Cornelius Dolabella became a Roman Consul. This was a very high position in the Roman government.
- The Roman province of Illyria was divided into two new areas: Pannonia and Dalmatia. Illyria was a region on the eastern side of the Adriatic Sea.
Ovid's Writings
- The famous Roman poet Ovid finished writing two important collections of poems. These were called Tristia (meaning "Sorrows") and Epistulae ex Ponto (meaning "Letters from the Black Sea"). In these poems, Ovid wrote about how sad he was because he had been sent away from Rome.

- Hero of Alexandria was born around this time. He was a clever Greek engineer and mathematician who invented many machines. He passed away around 70 AD.
- Saint Peter was also born around this year. He was one of Jesus' main followers and is considered by many to be the first pope of the Christian church. He passed away around 64 AD.

- Didymus Chalcenterus, a well-known Greek scholar and expert in grammar, passed away. He was born around 63 BC.
