Events in the Roman Empire
On August 3, a Roman general named Tiberius won a battle against the Dalmatian people near the Bathinus River.
A Roman noblewoman named Vipsania Julia was sent away from Rome. Also, Lucius Aemilius Paullus and his family faced disgrace. Because of this, Emperor Augustus ended the planned marriage between his relative Claudius and Paullus' daughter, Aemilia Lepida. There was also an effort to arrange a marriage for Claudius with a woman named Livia Medullina.
Important leaders called Roman Consuls for this year included Marcus Furius Camillus, Sextus Nonius Quinctilianus, and Lucius Apronius.
The famous Roman poet Ovid was sent away from Rome. He was exiled to a place near the Black Sea called Tomis (which is now Constanţa in Romania). While in exile, Ovid started writing a series of six books called the Fasti. These books describe the festivals and traditions of the first six months of the Roman year.

Tincomarus, who used to be the king of the Atrebates people, left Britain and went to Rome. After he left, Eppillus became the new king of the Atrebates.
