The Aarau District is a part of Switzerland. It's located in the Canton of Aargau. The main town and capital of the district is Aarau. This area includes the towns and villages around Aarau, just south of the Jura Mountains.

The Aarau District covers about 104.48 square kilometers (40.34 square miles). A big part of this area is covered by forests, about 48.2% of it. About 30.7% of the land is used for farming. The rest, about 20.1%, has buildings and roads.
Who Lives in Aarau District?
In December 2018, the Aarau District had a population of 80,309.
Most homes in 2000 had 3 or 4 people living in them. There were also many homes with 1 or 2 people. On average, about 2.24 people lived in each household. In 2008, about one-third of all homes were single-family houses.

Changes Over Time
