Ahmad Kadar Brooks (born March 14, 1984) is an American former professional football player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). Brooks played college football for the Virginia Cavaliers. He was chosen by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2006 NFL supplemental draft. Brooks also played for the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers.

Ahmad Brooks' Early Life and High School Football
Ahmad Brooks grew up in Woodbridge, Virginia. He went to C. D. Hylton High School. During his first two years, his team won two state championships. They had an amazing record of 40 wins and no losses.
In his junior year, Brooks hurt his ankle. He still had a great senior year in 2001. He made 202 tackles and ran for 848 yards. After this season, USA Today named him the best high school defensive player in the country. Experts thought he was the top middle linebacker in the nation in 2002.
College Football Career at Virginia
After high school, Brooks attended Hargrave Military Academy. He then joined the University of Virginia in 2003. As a freshman, he quickly became a starter for the Virginia Cavaliers football team. He led the team with 117 tackles. He also had four sacks.
In his second year, Brooks was a finalist for the Butkus Award. This award goes to the best college linebacker. He played in 12 games and earned All-America honors. He had 90 tackles and eight sacks that year. After this successful season, he had knee surgery.
Brooks missed the start of his junior year while recovering. He played in only six games. After the 2005 season, he left the Cavalier football team.
Ahmad Brooks' Professional NFL Career
Brooks decided to enter the NFL supplemental draft after his junior year. The Cincinnati Bengals picked him in the third round in 2006.
Playing for the Cincinnati Bengals
Brooks made his NFL debut in September 2006. He got his first NFL tackle against the New England Patriots. In his first start, he had 11 tackles. He also got his first NFL sack against the Carolina Panthers. He finished his first season with 31 tackles and one sack.
In 2007, Brooks started the season strong. He had six tackles and a sack in the first game. But he tore a groin muscle in the next game. This injury ended his season early. The Bengals released him in August 2008.
Time with the San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers picked up Brooks in August 2008. He did not play in 2008.
2009-2011 Seasons: Becoming a Key Player
Brooks made his 49ers debut in 2009. He slowly became a key player. In a game against the Arizona Cardinals, he had three sacks and two forced fumbles. He finished 2009 with six sacks.
In 2010, Brooks got his first NFL interception in the final game. He had five sacks that season. In 2011, he had a career-high 50 tackles and seven sacks. The 49ers had a great season, winning their division. They made it to the NFC Championship Game but lost.
2012 Season: Super Bowl Appearance
In 2012, Brooks signed a new contract with the 49ers. He continued to play well, recording 6.5 sacks. He also had an interception that he returned for a touchdown. The 49ers had another strong season, reaching Super Bowl XLVII. Brooks had five tackles and a sack in the Super Bowl. However, the 49ers lost to the Baltimore Ravens.
2013 Season: Pro Bowl Selection
Brooks had an excellent 2013 season. He set new career highs with 60 tackles and 8.5 sacks. He also had an interception and two forced fumbles. Because of his great performance, Brooks was chosen for his first Pro Bowl. The 49ers made the playoffs again. They won two playoff games before losing in the NFC Championship Game.
Later Years with the 49ers (2014-2016)
Brooks continued to be a strong player for the 49ers. In 2014, he had six sacks in 13 games. He made a key play in overtime against the New Orleans Saints, getting a strip-sack to help win the game.
In 2015, Brooks recorded 6.5 sacks. He had two sacks in one game against the Seattle Seahawks. In 2016, his final season with the 49ers, he had six sacks and 53 tackles. The 49ers released him in August 2017.
Playing for the Green Bay Packers
Brooks signed with the Green Bay Packers in September 2017. He played in 12 games for the Packers. He had 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks that season.

Ahmad Brooks' Family Life
Ahmad Brooks' father was Perry Brooks. He was also a football player. Perry Brooks played as a defensive tackle for the Washington Redskins. He passed away in March 2010.
