Al Ahli Sports Club, also known as Al Ahli Tripoli, is a professional football club from Tripoli. Its name means "National Sports Club" in English. It is one of the most successful football clubs in Libya. The club has won the Libyan Premier League 13 times, the Libyan Cup 7 times, and the Libyan Super Cup twice.
The club's badge is green and white. It shows a torch on an outline of Libya. The torch stands for Libya's independence, which happened just a few months after the club was started. After winning its 10th league title in 2000, a star was added to the top of the badge. In 2000, Al Ahli Tripoli had a very unusual season. They won the league title twice in the same year!
Al Ahli Tripoli won its first national championship in the 1967–68 season. They won two more titles soon after. The club also won the last league title before the league was stopped in 1977–78. The 1980s were a tough time for the club. However, they reached the final of the African Cup Winners' Cup in 1984. They had to withdraw from the final match against Al-Ahly Cairo because Libyan clubs were not allowed to play against Egyptian clubs at that time.

How the Club Started
In the mid-1900s, Libya was working towards becoming an independent country. Many sports and youth clubs were formed to help unite the nation. A group of young people in Tripoli wanted to name their club "Al Istiqlal," which means Independence. However, the British government did not like this name. They worried it might cause people to rebel.
So, the club was named "Al-Ahl Tripoli." This name means "Family" in Arabic, but it is also understood as "The People's Club." This means it was a club for everyone. The club's colors are green. Green was chosen to represent independence, peace, and hope for Libya. The club was officially founded on September 19, 1950.
