Alain Tasso's Life Story
Alain Tasso went to high school in Beirut. But he decided not to take his final exams. Instead, he chose to study accounting for a few years.
Early Interests and Art Gallery
Alain Tasso loved antiquities, art objects, and classical music. He started playing the piano when he was just five years old. In 1987, he opened his own art gallery called "L'insolite." He focused on Art Nouveau and Oriental art. He also began creating tiny detailed drawings called miniatures and beautiful calligraphy.
Challenges and New Beginnings
Two years later, a difficult civil war in Lebanon forced him to close his gallery. From 1992 to 2000, he worked as a writer. He wrote for many French and Arabic magazines and newspapers in Beirut. In 1993, he published a book of poems for young people.
Awards and Teaching Career

This show celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The next year, he started teaching at Saint Joseph University in Beirut. He taught a course about "Aesthetics," which is the study of beauty and art. Later, he taught other subjects too, like art history and cultural communication.
Artistic Evolution
Since 1995, Alain Tasso has shown his paintings in many exhibitions. His art style has changed over time. It started with abstract Arabic calligraphy. Then it moved to a Sufi style. Finally, it became a deep, dark black vision.
In 2001, Tasso helped create "Péristyles." This was a publishing company for art and literature. In 2005, the French government gave him another award. It was called Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. In 2008, his poems were included in a famous book called Poésies de langue française.
Alain Tasso's Writings
Alain Tasso has written more than ten poem collections. These books are often printed on special paper. They are illustrated either by Tasso himself or with famous paintings. He has used art by Raphael, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci. He has also written several essays. These are non-fiction writings about topics like "ethics" (what is right and wrong) and "image and power" in today's world.
His poetry began with a mystical feel. Then it became more expressive. Over time, his writing style became very clear and literary. This has made him a well-known figure in French poetry. In 2010, a special book about Alain Tasso was published. It included his poems and essays. In 2011, he started teaching at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts.
