Chronology

Followed by An All Dogs Christmas Carol

All Dogs Go to Heaven: The Series is an American animated TV show. It aired from 1996 to 1998. The show had 40 episodes, each about half an hour long.

This series continues the story from the movies All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989) and All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 (1996). The first movie was created by Don Bluth. It was about a dog named Charlie who went to heaven but came back to Earth. He wanted to get revenge on his enemy, Carface. With help from a girl named Anne-Marie, Charlie found a new path.

Many of the original voice actors from the movies returned for the TV series. These included Dom DeLuise, Ernest Borgnine, Charles Nelson Reilly, Bebe Neuwirth, Sheena Easton, and Adam Wylie. Steven Weber became the new voice for Charlie B. Barkin. In the movies, Charlie was voiced by Burt Reynolds and Charlie Sheen. The series ends with a special Christmas movie called An All Dogs Christmas Carol.

What the Show is About

In the series, Charlie and Itchy are guardian angels. They live in San Francisco. Their job is to help others. Anabelle gives them special tasks. But often, Charlie and Itchy find themselves in funny or tricky situations.

Charlie's old enemy, Carface, and his helper, Killer, also appear in the show. Charlie's friends, Sasha the dog and David the human boy, are there too. Anabelle, the dog-angel, is also a main character.

The series also introduces new characters. Bess is a fancy show dog and Itchy's girlfriend. Lance is a Doberman Pinscher who always follows the rules. Charlie sometimes feels a bit jealous of Lance's heroic actions. Belladonna is Anabelle's tricky cousin.

Some things in the series are a bit different from the second movie. For example, Charlie and Sasha seemed like a couple at the end of the movie. But in the series, they are just friends. Also, Itchy decided to stay in Heaven in the movie. But in the series, he is back on Earth. The show later explains why he is there.
