Allsvenskan (which means "The All Swedish") is a major bandy league in Sweden. Since the 2007–08 season, it has been the second-highest level of bandy in the country. This league includes 24 teams, which are divided into two regional groups. Allsvenskan was created when the older "Allsvenskan and Elitserien" leagues were changed. A new top league called Elitserien was also formed at that time.

How the League Works

When Allsvenskan first started in 2007, it had three groups. Each group had ten teams, making a total of 30 teams. These groups were organized by location: Allsvenskan Norra (North), Allsvenskan Mellersta (Mid), and Allsvenskan Södra (South).

For the 2009–10 season, the league changed its structure. It was reorganized into two groups, Norra (North) and Södra (South). Each of these groups had 12 teams, bringing the total number of teams down to 24. This two-group structure has been used ever since.

Past Teams and Their Journeys

Many different clubs have played in Allsvenskan over the years. This is because teams can move up to Elitserien (promotion) or move down to Division 1 (relegation).
