Amanda Laura Bynes (born April 3, 1986) is an American former actress. She started her career as a child star on Nickelodeon shows like All That (1996–2000) and The Amanda Show (1999–2002).
As a teenager, she starred in the TV show What I Like About You (2002–2006). She also appeared in popular teen movies such as Big Fat Liar (2002) and What a Girl Wants (2003). Later, she acted in films like She's the Man (2006), Hairspray (2007), and Easy A (2010). Amanda Bynes won many awards, including six Kids' Choice Awards. She stopped acting in June 2010.

Amanda Bynes was born in Thousand Oaks, California, on April 3, 1986. She is the youngest of three children. Her mother, Lynn, worked as a dental assistant. Her father, Rick Bynes, was a dentist. Her family has roots from different countries, including Ireland, Lithuania, Poland, Canada, Russia, and Romania.
Acting Career Highlights
Starting as a Child Star (1993–2005)

Amanda Bynes began acting at age seven. Her first professional role was in a TV ad for Buncha Crunch candies. As a child, she also performed in stage musicals like Annie and The Sound of Music.
A producer from Nickelodeon discovered her at a comedy camp. She then joined the sketch comedy show All That from 1996 to 2000. On this show, she played many different characters. All That made her very famous, and she won a Kids' Choice Award in 2000.
At 13, Amanda got her own show, The Amanda Show, which ran from 1999 to 2002. She was praised for her acting on both shows. She won four more Kids' Choice Awards for The Amanda Show.
In 2002, Amanda starred in her first movie, Big Fat Liar. She played Kaylee, the best friend of the main character. The movie was a big success, and she won another Kids' Choice Award for her role. Also in 2002, she got a main role in the TV show What I Like About You. This show was well-liked by viewers.
She also lent her voice to animated films. She was the voice of Nellie in Charlotte's Web 2: Wilbur's Great Adventure (2003) and Piper Pinwheeler in Robots (2005).
Becoming a Mainstream Star (2006–2010)
In 2006, Amanda Bynes starred in the teen comedy She's the Man. She played Viola Hastings, a girl who pretends to be her twin brother to play on a boys' soccer team. Critics enjoyed her performance in this fun movie.
In 2007, Amanda took on the role of Penny Pingleton in the musical film Hairspray. This movie was a huge hit and became her most successful film at the time. Amanda and the rest of the cast received many awards for their performances. She won a Critics' Choice Award for being part of the best acting group. She also sang on the Hairspray soundtrack, which was nominated for a Grammy Award.
Later in 2007, Amanda starred in the comedy Sydney White. In 2008, she appeared in the TV movie Living Proof. She also voiced a character named Anna in an episode of the cartoon show Family Guy.

In 2013, she started studying at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in California. She earned her associate's degree in merchandise product development in 2018. She later graduated from FIDM in 2019.
In December 2023, Amanda started co-hosting a podcast called Amanda Bynes & Paul Sieminski: The Podcast. However, she decided to leave after one episode. She shared that she wanted to get her manicurist license and have a steady job.
