Ana Gomes Ferreira (born on June 29, 1987), known as Ana Free, is a talented singer, musician, and songwriter. She is from Portugal and has had many hit songs there. Four of her songs even reached the number one spot!

Ana Free is also very popular on YouTube. Her music videos have been watched over 40.1 million times. Her song "Electrical Storm" from her first album, "Together," was a number one hit on the MTV Portugal music chart.

Early Life and Education

Ana Free grew up in Cascais, Portugal, with her older brother. Her mother is British, and her father is Portuguese. From a young age, she loved writing poems and stories. She started writing and making music when she was just 10 years old.

Ana has played the guitar for more than 15 years. She has written over 500 original songs! She went to St. Julians International School in Carcavelos, where she developed her unique accent.

Studying Economics

Ana Free also has a strong academic background. In 2008, she earned a degree in economics from the University of Kent. She did very well, graduating with top honors. She especially enjoyed learning about international trade and game theory. Ana wrote a special paper about how technology changed major record labels between 1995 and 2005. Early Career and First Hits

In the summer of 2007, Ana had her first live TV performance in Portugal on TVI. She sang "Crazy," a song she wrote herself. Her first single, "In My Place," was released on May 23, 2008. It became very popular and was even featured in Portuguese TV shows like Morangos com Açúcar.

In November 2008, Disney asked Ana to record the Portuguese theme song for the movie Tinker Bell. The song was called Voa Até Ao Teu Coração, and she also made a music video for it.

Releasing EPs and Albums

In the autumn of 2009, Ana recorded her five-song acoustic/pop EP called Radian in London. It was released in Portugal in 2010. The EP featured five of her most popular original songs from YouTube. In February and March 2010, she performed songs from Radian in Miami and New York City. She was even featured on a large billboard in Times Square!

In May 2010, Ana traveled to New York City to film the music video for "Questions in My Mind." This was her first single from the Radian EP. She also recorded vocals for the song "Black Tears" with the Portuguese rock band Hands on Approach.

Her debut album, "TOGETHER" (also known as "TO.GET.HER"), was released in January 2013. It received great reviews, with people calling it "beautifully written" and "emotional."

Collaborations and Festivals

In late 2011, Ana worked with DJ Diego Miranda on the hit single "Girlfriend." This song stayed at number one on the national charts for over eight weeks! The music video for "Girlfriend" has over 1.5 million views.

In May 2012, Ana performed at the first official YouTube festival in Singapore. She debuted her single "Electrical Storm" from her upcoming album on The MTV Show. In June 2012, she performed at the famous Rock in Rio festival in Lisbon.

Some of her most popular songs online are covers of other artists' hits. These include Nickelback's "Savin' Me", The Rolling Stones' "Angie", and Shakira's "Waka Waka". Each of these covers has over a million views!

Charity Work

Ana Free cares about helping others. She has supported several charitable causes. In 2009, she became an ambassador for the Liga Portuguesa contra o Cancro (LPCC). She helped raise awareness for cervical cancer. She is also an ambassador for the Lisbon Oceanarium.

In 2010, the Make A Wish Foundation worked with Ana. They helped a young fan with cystic fibrosis meet Ana. The fan and her family spent five days in London. They went to Ana's studio, visited the London Eye, and attended one of Ana's shows.
