Andrew Thomas Carroll (born on January 6, 1989) is an English professional footballer. He plays as a striker for Championnat National 2 club Bordeaux. He has played in the Premier League and English Football League for several well-known clubs. These include Newcastle United, Liverpool, and West Ham United. He also played nine times for the England national team, scoring two goals.
Carroll started his professional football journey with Newcastle United in 2006. He later had a short loan spell with Preston North End, where he scored his first league goal. By 2008, he became a regular player for Newcastle. When Newcastle was relegated to the Championship in 2009, he scored 17 goals. This helped the team win the league and get promoted back to the Premier League right away. The next season, he scored 11 goals in 19 games. In January 2011, he moved to Liverpool for a large fee, which was a record for a British footballer at the time.
At Liverpool, Carroll found it tough to score many goals. In 2012, he moved to West Ham United on a loan for a season. This move became permanent a year later. He spent six years at West Ham, dealing with several injuries. In 2019, he left West Ham and returned to Newcastle. After two more years there, he moved to Reading in 2021. He later played for West Bromwich Albion and then returned to Reading. In 2023, he joined Amiens in France, and in 2024, he moved to Bordeaux.
Carroll played nine matches for England between 2010 and 2012. He scored two goals, including one at the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament.
