Angela Seung Ju Pucci (born July 8, 1996), also known as Angela Lee Pucci, is a Canadian-born American who used to be a professional mixed martial artist. She also works to help people with their mental well-being in combat sports. Angela competed in the atomweight and strawweight divisions of ONE Championship. She was the very first ONE Atomweight World Champion. Angela was undefeated in the atomweight division. She successfully defended her championship five times. She held the record for the longest championship reign in ONE history, lasting over seven years.
On May 5, 2016, Angela became the youngest person ever to win a world title in MMA. She was 19 years and 9 months old when she beat Mei Yamaguchi. This win made her the first ONE Atomweight World Champion. When her younger brother Christian Lee won his championship in May 2019, they became the first sister-brother pair to be world champions in mixed martial arts. Angela announced her retirement from MMA on September 30, 2023. She made this decision after the passing of her younger sister Victoria Lee.

Early Life and Training
Angela Lee was born in Vancouver, Canada. Her father, Ken Lee, is Chinese-Singaporean. Her mother, Jewelz Lee, was born in South Korea. Angela moved to Hawaii with her family when she was seven years old. Both of her parents are martial artists. Because of this, Angela started training at a very young age. She began competing in martial arts when she was just six years old. Her younger brother Christian is also a famous MMA fighter. Her other younger siblings, Victoria and Adrian, also train in martial arts.
In 2011, Angela won her division at the USA Amateur pankration national championships. The next year, she won her division at the World Pangration Athlima Federation world championships in Greece. Angela earned her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt on February 9, 2018. She received it from Mike Fowler and her father, Ken Lee.
Professional Mixed Martial Arts Career
Angela Lee started her amateur fighting career in 2014. In November of that year, she won an amateur title. She beat Audrey Perkins in Honolulu to become the Destiny MMA strawweight champion.
Joining ONE Championship
Angela signed with ONE Championship in 2014. She had her first fight with them on May 22, 2015. This was at ONE Championship 28: Warrior's Quest. She won by making Aya Saber give up in the first round. Angela fights under the Singapore flag.
After this win, Angela left college in Hawaii. She had been studying business. She then moved to Singapore to join Evolve MMA. In her next fight, she won again. She beat Mona Samir in the first round on September 27, 2015.
Angela's third professional fight was on November 13, 2015. She won by making Natalie Gonzales Hills give up in the first round. Commentators called this a possible "submission of the year." She later won the 2015 WMMA Press Award for Submission of the Year.
Next, she fought Lena Tkhorevska on December 11, 2015. Angela won in the second round. Her first fight of 2016 was against Rebecca Heintzman on February 20, 2016. She won that fight in the second round as well.
Becoming a World Champion
Angela had won her first five fights by making her opponents give up. This earned her a chance to fight for the first-ever ONE Championship Atomweight Women's Title. She faced Japanese fighter Mei Yamaguchi on May 6, 2016. Winning this fight would make her the youngest MMA world champion ever.
Angela won the fight by a unanimous decision. This meant all the judges agreed she was the winner. She became the first ONE Women's Atomweight Champion. She also received a bonus for her great performance. Many in the MMA world said her fight with Yamaguchi was one of the best fights of the year. She then signed a new contract with ONE Championship. Some people thought her new contract made her the highest-paid teenager in MMA history.
On March 11, 2017, Angela successfully defended her Atomweight World Championship. She defeated Jenny Huang of Taiwan. On May 27, 2017, she defended her title for the second time against Istela Nunes of Brazil.
In November 2017, Angela was in a car accident. She had fallen asleep while driving. She survived with a concussion and some minor burns. Her fight with Mei Yamaguchi was moved to May 18, 2018. Angela won that fight by unanimous decision.
Angela was set to challenge Jingnan Xiong for the strawweight championship. This would have made her the first female two-division champion in ONE Championship. However, she had to pull out of the fight due to a back injury. The fight finally happened on March 31, 2019. Angela was defeated in the fifth round. This was her first loss in her professional career.
At another event in July 2019, Angela lost again to Michelle Nicolini.
Angela then defended her ONE Atomweight Championship against Xiong Jingnan on October 13, 2019. She won the fight by making Xiong give up in the fifth round.
After taking time off for her pregnancy, Angela returned to defend her Atomweight title. She fought Stamp Fairtex on March 26, 2022. She overcame a tough start in the first round. She then won the fight by making Stamp give up in the second round.
Angela challenged Xiong Jingnan again for the ONE Women's Strawweight Championship on September 30, 2022. She lost the fight by unanimous decision.
Retirement and Advocacy
On September 30, 2023, Angela Lee announced her retirement from mixed martial arts. She also gave up her championship title. She explained that it was very hard to continue fighting because her whole family, including her sister and father, were fighters. She said it was difficult to separate her fighting career from her personal life after her sister's passing.
Angela's experiences, including her sister's death, led her to start a non-profit organization called Fightstory. This organization creates podcasts and videos about mental well-being. It also offers a program to help people with their nutrition and physical health.
Personal Life
Angela Lee has both American and Canadian citizenship. She is married to fellow mixed martial artist Bruno Pucci. On October 1, 2020, Angela announced she was pregnant. She gave birth to a daughter in April 2021.
Angela and her husband are head coaches at United BJJ Hawaii. This is a gym they started in 2021.
Angela's younger brother Christian is also a very successful fighter. He is the current ONE Lightweight World Champion and ONE Welterweight World Champion. Her youngest sibling, Victoria, also made her successful MMA debut at age 16. On January 7, 2023, Angela shared that Victoria had passed away on December 26, 2022. After this, the Lee family closed their family-owned MMA training facility in Waipahu, Hawaii.
