Anime Los Angeles, also known as Animé Los Angeles, is a super fun four-day event that happens every January. It's an anime convention, which means it's a big gathering for fans of Japanese animation (anime) and comics (manga)! It takes place in Long Beach, California, at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center.
What Happens at Anime Los Angeles?
Anime Los Angeles is packed with cool activities! Here are some things you can usually find there:
- AMV Contest: AMV stands for Anime Music Video. Fans create awesome videos using clips from anime set to music.
- Artists' Alley: This is a special area where talented artists sell their original artwork, prints, and crafts inspired by anime and manga.
- Con Suite: A place where you can relax and sometimes grab a snack or drink.
- Cosplay Chess: Imagine a giant chess game where people dressed as anime characters are the chess pieces! It's super entertaining.
- Dealers Room: This is like a big marketplace where you can buy all sorts of anime and manga merchandise, figures, clothes, and more.
- Gaming Room: A spot to play video games, board games, and card games with other fans.
History of the Convention
Anime Los Angeles started in 2005. It has grown a lot since then!
- In 2016, the convention moved from the Los Angeles Airport Marriott to the Ontario Convention Center. This move helped make space for all the new attendees.
- Sadly, Anime Los Angeles 2021 had to be cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- In 2022, the convention moved to its current home at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center.
