Arras Lake is a small lake located in Lee Township, Ontario, Canada. It's found in the northeastern part of Ontario, within the Timiskaming District. About Arras Lake

Arras Lake is a small but interesting body of water. It's a great example of how lakes are connected to larger river systems. Understanding how water flows through places like Arras Lake helps us learn about geography and the environment.

Size and Location

Arras Lake is not very big, making it a "small lake." It measures about 420 meters (1,378 feet) long and 350 meters (1,148 feet) wide. To give you an idea, 420 meters is roughly the length of four football fields!

The lake is located in a part of Ontario called the Unorganized West Timiskaming District. This area is mostly wilderness, which means it's a natural space with few towns or cities.

Water Flow and Connections

Arras Lake is an important part of a larger drainage basin. A drainage basin is like a giant bowl where all the rain and snowmelt collect and flow into a main river or lake. For Arras Lake, its water eventually makes its way to James Bay, which is a large body of water connected to Hudson Bay.

How Water Enters Arras Lake

The main stream that flows into Arras Lake is Tomwool Creek. This creek enters the lake from the west side. Tomwool Creek itself gets its water from other nearby lakes, like Burl Lakes. So, Arras Lake is like a stop along Tomwool Creek's journey.

Where Water Leaves Arras Lake

The water from Arras Lake also leaves through Tomwool Creek. The creek flows out from the south side of the lake. From there, Tomwool Creek continues its journey south towards Tomwool Lake.

The Journey to James Bay

The water from Arras Lake, carried by Tomwool Creek, travels a long way to reach James Bay. It flows through several other creeks and rivers, including:

This long journey shows how all bodies of water, even small lakes like Arras Lake, are connected to much larger systems.
