Asia Muhammad (born April 4, 1991) is an American professional tennis player. She is known for being a doubles specialist. This means she is really good at playing tennis with a partner.

She has been ranked as high as world No. 14 in doubles by the WTA. This happened on October 28, 2024. In singles, she reached No. 124 on April 24, 2017.

Asia has won eleven doubles titles on the WTA Tour. She also has five doubles titles on the Challenger Tour. Plus, she won 14 singles and 35 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit.

She made it to a big final at the 2022 Indian Wells Open with her partner Ena Shibahara. She also reached the semifinals of a major tournament, the Grand Slam, at the 2020 US Open. Asia has won two WTA 500 titles. These were at the 2023 Adelaide International 1 and the 2024 Washington Open. For these wins, she teamed up with Taylor Townsend. Because of her success, she reached a new career-high doubles ranking of world No. 24 on August 12, 2024.

Early Life and Family

Asia Muhammad was born in Long Beach, California. Her parents are Ron Holmes and Faye Muhammad.

Her dad, Ron Holmes, was a tall and talented point guard for the USC Trojans men's basketball team in the 1980s. Her mom, Faye, was also a point guard and a track star at Long Beach State.

Asia is the oldest of three children. Her brother, Shabazz Muhammad, is a professional basketball player. He played for five seasons in the NBA.

Her uncle, Stephone Paige, played nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He had 377 catches in his career. Her aunt, Robin Holmes-Sullivan, played basketball for Cal State Fullerton for four years.

Tennis Journey and Coaching

Asia Muhammad is coached by Tim Blenkiron. He is an NCAA champion and owns the NO QUIT Tennis Academy. Asia trains there.

Blenkiron started coaching her when she was a child. She was part of Andre Agassi's TEAM AGASSI program in Las Vegas. This program helped her become a top junior player. Her first big moment was reaching the finals of the Tennis Channel Open when she was just 16 years old.
