Asteroids is a classic arcade video game that came out in 1979. It was made by a company called Atari. In this game, you get to fly a spaceship through a dangerous field of asteroids. Your mission is to blast the asteroids and any flying saucers that show up. But watch out! You need to avoid getting hit yourself.
Asteroids quickly became super popular. Over 70,000 arcade machines were sold! Because it was such a hit, the game was later released on many different video game consoles. You could play it on systems like the Atari 2600, Game Boy Color, and even the Xbox 360.
