Aunjanue L. Ellis-Taylor (born February 21, 1969) is an American actress. She has won many awards for her acting. These include nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and two Primetime Emmy Awards.

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor has acted in many movies. Some of her well-known films include Men of Honor (2000), Ray (2004), and The Help (2011). She also appeared in If Beale Street Could Talk (2018). In 2021, she played Oracene Price in the sports movie King Richard. For this role, she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor was born in San Francisco, California. She grew up on her grandmother's farm in Magnolia, Mississippi. She first went to Tougaloo College. Later, she moved to Brown University. There, she earned a degree in African-American studies.

She also studied acting with teachers Jim Barnhill and John Emigh. While at Brown University, she performed in her first play as a student. After Brown, she continued her acting studies. She attended the Graduate Acting Program at New York University.

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor began her acting career in 1995. She made her first professional stage appearance on Broadway. She played Ariel in William Shakespeare's play The Tempest. Soon after, she appeared on TV in the police drama New York Undercover.

In 1996, she had a main role in the independent film Girls Town. Throughout the late 1990s, she took on supporting roles in movies. These included Desert Blue and A Map of the World. From 1996 to 1997, she starred as Officer Leslie Joyner in the ABC series High Incident. In 1999, she had a recurring role in the legal drama The Practice.
