Avon-by-the-Sea (often called Avon) is a small town in Monmouth County, New Jersey. It's known as a borough, which is a type of town government.
In 2020, about 1,933 people lived here. The town was officially created on March 23, 1900. It was named after Avon, England, or perhaps after a hotel called the Avon Inn built in 1883.
In 2010, Forbes.com said Avon-by-the-Sea had some of "America's Most Expensive ZIP Codes." This means homes here were quite pricey, with a typical house costing around $989,212.
