Bainbridge is a small village located in Chenango County, New York, United States. In 2010, about 1,355 people lived there. The village is right in the middle of the larger town of Bainbridge. It sits between two other cities, Binghamton and Oneonta.

History of Bainbridge
Early Settlement and Growth
The first people settled in the area where Bainbridge village now stands around 1789. The village officially became a village in 1821. This means it got its own local government.
For a while, Bainbridge was known for making Elmer's Glue. This famous glue was produced right here!
Historic Buildings and Places
Many of Bainbridge's old and important buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. This list helps protect special places in the United States. Another important building, the Charles C. Hovey House and Strong Leather Company Mill, was added to the list in 1996.
The 2006 Flood
In June 2006, a big rainstorm caused a lot of trouble in New York state. The Susquehanna River, which flows through Bainbridge, rose very high. It reached 27 feet, which was 14 feet above its normal flood level.
This caused major flooding in the village. Areas like North Main Street and the baseball field were underwater. The river even stretched far up East Main Street, reaching the village garage and post office. The floodwaters also reached the highway entrance and exit for Interstate 88.

The village covers a total area of about 1.3 square miles (3.3 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.1 square kilometers), being water.
Rivers and Roads
The Susquehanna River flows right next to the village. This river is a big part of the local geography.
Bainbridge is also easy to reach by road. Interstate 88 has an exit (Exit 8) right at the village. Two important state roads, NY-7 (North and South Main Street) and NY-206 (East and West Main Street), cross paths in the village center.
