The Mystery of Batwoman
A new hero called Batwoman appears in Gotham City. Nobody knows who she is, not even Batman! Batwoman fights crime, but she doesn't follow Batman's strict rule about never taking a life. Batman has to figure out her secret identity. At the same time, he must stop the villains Penguin and Rupert Thorne. They are trying to sell illegal weapons to a country called Kasnia. They hire a gangster named Carlton Duquesne to help them.
Batman's Investigation
Batman, along with Robin, tries to stop Batwoman from making mistakes. He also faces many challenges while trying to find out who she really is. Batwoman uses a cool new wind glider, which has very advanced technology. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne, Batman's secret identity, meets Kathy Duquesne. She is the daughter of the crime boss Carlton Duquesne.
Bruce also meets two other women who seem suspicious. One is Dr. Roxanne "Rocky" Ballantine, a new employee at Wayne Tech. Batwoman uses technology developed by Rocky against the Penguin. The other is Detective Sonia Alcana, Detective Harvey Bullock's new partner. Sonia seems to know a lot about the weapons being smuggled. Since Carlton can't stop Batwoman's attacks, the Penguin calls Bane for extra help.
The Secret Revealed
Soon after Bane arrives in Gotham, a big secret is revealed. There isn't just one Batwoman, but three! The three women Batman suspected were Kathy, Sonia, and Rocky. Kathy and Sonia met in college art classes. Sonia and Rocky were roommates. All three had reasons to be angry at the Penguin, Thorne, and Carlton Duquesne.
The Penguin had framed Rocky's fiancé, Kevin. Thorne had caused Sonia's family to lose all their money. Carlton Duquesne's gang war led to his wife (and Kathy's mother) being killed. They took turns pretending to be Batwoman so no one would suspect just one of them. Sonia created the Batwoman idea as a way to honor Batman. He had saved her life nine years earlier and inspired her to become a police officer.
The Final Showdown
Kathy places a bomb on the ship carrying the weapons. The ship is about to go into international waters for the exchange. But Bane unmasks her before the bomb goes off! Kathy and Batman barely escape as the bomb explodes. Carlton Duquesne then decides to help his daughter instead of Thorne and the Penguin. Bane falls into the Gotham River.
The Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) thinks Sonia is Batwoman. Sonia quits the GCPD and decides to leave Gotham. Batman gives Sonia evidence that helps clear Rocky's fiancé. Carlton agrees to tell the police about Thorne and the Penguin. After making up with her father, Kathy drives off with Bruce.
