Battle B-Daman (Japanese: B-伝説! バトルビーダマン, Hepburn: Bī-Densetsu! Batoru Bīdaman, "B-Legend! Battle B-Daman") is a cool Japanese manga (comic book series) and anime (cartoon show) about a game called B-Daman. It was created by Eiji Inuki. The manga was published from 2002 to 2005. The anime first aired in Japan in January 2004 and came to the United States in April 2005.

The show is based on a fun game similar to marbles, but with special toy launchers called B-Daman. These toys shoot small plastic balls, called B-DaBalls. Battle B-Daman was the first show in the B-Daman series to be dubbed into English. The toys were first made by Takara and later by Hasbro for release in the United States.

What is B-Daman?

B-Daman are special toys that look like characters or creatures. They have a core that holds a B-DaBall, and you press a trigger to launch the ball. Different B-Daman have unique powers, like shooting faster, stronger, or with more control.

How Do You Play Battle B-Daman?

In the world of Battle B-Daman, players compete in many exciting games using their B-Daman. Here are some of the popular ways they play:

  • Six Wall: Players shoot B-DaBalls to knock down numbered boxes. Each box gives points or drops a special item.
  • Trap Shooting: This game involves shooting targets while navigating a tricky obstacle course with lakes, walls, and poles.
  • Lion Stage: A fast-paced game where players shoot B-DaBalls into a goal zone. Two spinning fences make it harder to score.
  • Phoenix Stage: Players aim to knock down targets hidden behind spinning fences. This game needs strong shots.
  • Shield Stage: This game tests a player's control. The stage is divided by fences, and players must hit targets in each section.
  • Dragon Stage: A zigzag course where players score points by landing B-DaBalls in their opponent's area. It's all about balance and speed.
  • Sword Stage: A direct hit battle where players shoot at each other's B-Daman.
  • Head-to-Head Ultimate Strike: Players shoot at rows of pins. The goal is to knock down all your opponent's pins first.
  • Super Ultimate Strike: Players shoot at moving targets at the end of a table. Different obstacles like barricades or spinners test accuracy, power, or rapid fire.
  • Cannonball: A game where players launch five powerful shots to push a giant pin as far as possible.
  • Power Alley: Players shoot at a target to score points. The stronger the shot, the more points they get. In tournaments, points help players climb a tall tower.
  • DHB (Direct Hit Battle): This is the most common game. Players try to hit a button on their opponent's B-Daman to win.

New games were added in the second season:

  • Mecha B-DaBattle Race: Players ride hoverboards through an obstacle course and shoot a target at the end to win a prize.
  • Target Road: An obstacle course where players must shoot down all targets within a time limit.
  • Knock Down Block: Players knock down square blocks arranged in a pyramid to make the top pyramid fall into a circle.
  • Target Battle: A simpler version of Super Ultimate Strike without obstacles.
  • Battle Royal Hockey: Five players shoot a puck into slots on their opponents' sides to defeat them.
  • Spider Match: A unique battle where players stand on a hanging arena made of ropes, like a spider web.

The Story of Battle B-Daman

The story of Battle B-Daman follows a young hero named Yamato Delgado and his friends.

Season 1: Fighting the Shadow Alliance

The first season introduces Yamato Delgado, an 11-year-old boy who was raised by cats. He finds a legendary B-Daman called Cobalt Blade.
