Becky and Barnaby Bear is a fun live-action television show from the United Kingdom. It stars Barnaby Bear and his friend Becky. They live in the city of Chester in Cheshire. Barnaby Bear is a special character created by the Geographical Association. The show helps kids learn about the world through Barnaby's exciting video diary adventures. It was first shown as part of a BBC Schools series called 'Watch'.

Meet the Characters

The show features three main characters:

  • Barnaby Bear - A friendly bear puppet, voiced by Rebecca Nagan. He loves to explore and share his adventures.
  • Becky - Barnaby's human friend, played by Dominique Jackson. She often joins Barnaby on his trips.

  • Barnaby Bear to the Rescue - Barnaby climbs Moel Famau, a mountain in North Wales, with his dad. He helps save a girl who hurt her leg, using what he learned from a park warden.
  • Barnaby Bear's Edinburgh Diary - Barnaby and his mum visit Edinburgh in Scotland. They travel around the city seeing famous sights.
  • Barnaby on a Monster Hunt - Barnaby and Becky visit Loch Ness to look for the famous monster.
  • Barnaby on a Steam Train - Barnaby and Becky ride the Ffestiniog Steam Railway. Barnaby loses his toy train, and Becky helps him find it.
  • The River Thames - Barnaby camps overnight on an island in the River Thames with his dad. The next day, he visits London and sees the London Eye.
  • Barnaby on the Farm - Barnaby and Becky stay on a farm in Wales. They help the farmer with daily chores.
  • The Legendary Trip - Becky and Barnaby Bear visit Caernarfon Castle with Barnaby's dad. Barnaby pretends to be a king, and Becky is his queen.
  • Barnaby Bear and the Badgers - Barnaby goes badger watching in the New Forest.
  • Fairy Footprints - Barnaby and Becky go on a ramble (a long walk) with Barnaby's dad to Fairy Hill.
  • Barnaby goes to Norway - Barnaby visits his pen pals in Skarsvag, Norway. They travel to the North Cape to see the Midnight sun.
  • Barnaby Bear Goes to Dublin - Barnaby flies to Dublin, Republic of Ireland, for a few days. He uses a map to explore the city's attractions, like the Smithfield Chimney. He learns about different ways to travel, including a bus tour and the DART. He even tries Irish dancing.
  • Barnaby at the Seaside - Barnaby goes to Poole in Dorset. He learns about sea flags that show water conditions. He helps the RNLI when children in an inflatable boat drift away.
  • Barnaby Bear Goes to Brittany - Barnaby visits Roscoff in Brittany, France.
  • Becky's New Friends - Barnaby plans to meet Becky at Chester Zoo. But Becky forgets and goes to feed the penguins instead!
  • Flying at The Fair - Barnaby and Becky visit Drayton Manor Theme Park. Barnaby is scared of the Ferris wheel at first. He tries other rides like the merry-go-round and a strongman game. Finally, he admits he's scared of falling, but he decides to go on the Big Wheel with Becky.
  • Barnaby at the Aquarium - Barnaby and Becky visit the London Aquarium. Barnaby sets up a trail of clues for Becky's birthday.
  • Barnaby Bear Finds out about the Environment - Barnaby learns about recycling at home and at a recycling center. He discovers the "three Rs": reduce, re-use, and recycle. He also helps his friends clean up a local park.
  • Barnaby Bear Finds out about Food - Barnaby and his friends learn about healthy food when the Cooking Bus comes to school. He finds out what's in his food and how to make a vegetable kebab. He also visits an allotment to see how fruits and vegetables grow.
  • Barnaby Bear Goes to the Orkney Islands - Barnaby and his mum stay with friends on a farm on Papa Westray. He explores the farm, watches sheep shearing, and learns about island life. He sees the ferry, holds a lobster, looks for seals, and helps clean the beach.
  • Tocuaro - A Mexican Village - Barnaby and his Mexican pen friend visit a traditional Mexican village.
  • Mexico City - Barnaby visits his pen friend in Mexico City to learn about the city's air pollution.
  • Barnaby Bear in Chester - Barnaby explores the historic Roman city of Chester. He visits the Eastgate Street clock, sees the unique shop designs in the Tudor 'Rows', and tastes cheese. He also listens to the town crier explain his important job.
