Bejou (pronounced BEE-zhoo) is a small city in Mahnomen County, Minnesota, in the United States. In 2020, about 84 people lived there. Bejou is special because it is located entirely within the White Earth Indian Reservation.

History of Bejou
A post office, which handles mail, has been in Bejou since 1906. The city's name likely comes from the Ojibwe word bizhiw. This word means "lynx," which is a type of wild cat found in North America. The lynx is also one of the important symbols, called doodems, for the Ojibwe people.
Geography of Bejou
Bejou is located in the northwestern part of Mahnomen County. It is along U.S. Route 59, a main road. This road goes south about 8 miles (13 km) to Mahnomen, which is the main town of the county. The road also goes north about 16 miles (26 km) to Erskine.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of about 0.29 square miles (0.74 square kilometers). All of this area is land. Water from the city flows west into Marsh Creek. This creek eventually joins the Wild Rice River. The Wild Rice River is part of the Red River system.
The city is also in the northwest part of the White Earth Indian Reservation. This reservation includes all of Mahnomen County and parts of other nearby counties.
