Bethany is a small village located in Moultrie County, Illinois, in the United States. In 2020, about 1,255 people lived there. This number was a bit lower than in 2010, when 1,352 people called Bethany home.

Where is Bethany Located?
Bethany is in the western part of Moultrie County. A main road, Illinois Route 121, goes around the northern and eastern sides of the village. This road can take you about 8 miles (13 km) southeast to Sullivan, which is the main town of the county. You can also go northwest about 19 miles (31 km) to Decatur.
The U.S. Census Bureau says Bethany covers about 0.98 square miles (2.54 square kilometers) of land. Only a tiny part, about 0.002 square miles (0.005 square kilometers), is water. A stream called Marrowbone Creek flows through the western and southern parts of Bethany. This creek eventually joins the West Okaw River, which is part of the larger Kaskaskia River system.

Students from kindergarten all the way through 12th grade attend schools in this district. The elementary school and high school are in Bethany. The middle school is located in Findlay. The school sports teams are called the "Timberwolves." They play in the "Lincoln Prairie Conference."
