Bitchū Province facts for kids
Bitchū Province (備中国, Bitchū no kuni) was an old province of Japan in the area Okayama Prefecture on the island of Honshū. Along with Bizen and Bingo Provinces, it was sometimes called Bishū (備州).
The province had borders with Hōki, Mimasaka, Bizen, and Bingo Provinces.
The ancient capital city of the province was near Soja.

History
In the Meiji period, the provinces of Japan were converted into prefectures. The maps of Japan and Bitchū Province were reformed in the 1870s.
Shrines and Temples
Kibitsu jinja was the chief Shinto shrine (ichinomiya) of Bitchū.
