History of Blauen
Blauen was first mentioned in official records way back in 1147. At that time, it was known by the name Blakwan.
Geography and Nature
Blauen covers an area of about 7.13 square kilometers (2.75 square miles). A large part of this area, about 60%, is covered by forests, making it a very green place. Around 34% of the land is used for farming, like growing crops or for pastures where animals graze. Only a small part, about 5%, has buildings and roads.
The town is located in the Laufen district, on the southern side of the Blauen mountains. This gives it a beautiful natural setting.
