About the Show
The idea for Bottersnikes and Gumbles started way back in 2012. It was developed by Mighty Nice and Cheeky Little Media. The TV series is based on a popular children's book series. These books were written by S. A. Wakefield in Australia.
In early 2015, the streaming service Netflix announced exciting news. They had bought the rights to show the series. It was released as 52 episodes, each about eleven minutes long.
The show first aired on 7TWO in Australia on December 18, 2015. It ran there until January 22, 2016. It also started showing on CBBC in the UK in 2016. The show is made for kids aged 6 to 9 years old.
Patrick Egerton, the show's producer, shared his thoughts. He said the books had a "rich, distinctive world." They made a big impression on him when he was a kid. He felt that with new computer graphics tools, it was the perfect time to make the TV show.
What Happens in the Show
The story follows three young Gumbles: Tink, Bounce, and Willi. Gumbles love to "gumble" all day long. This means they like to play and have fun.
But there are also Bottersnikes. These are lizard-like creatures who are the "bogeymen" of the show. They are often trying to cause trouble.
So, the Gumbles and Bottersnikes have many battles. The Gumbles use clever tricks and daring rescues. They try to outsmart the Bottersnikes in every episode.
The show has received some cool awards. It won a Pulcinella Award for 'Best Kids TV Series'. This was at an international animation festival in Venice. It was also nominated for 'Most Outstanding Children’s program' at the 2016 Logie Awards.
