Broadgreen (also known as Broad Green) is a lively area in the eastern part of Liverpool, England. It's like a neighborhood on the edge of the city. Broadgreen is surrounded by other cool places like Old Swan, Knotty Ash, Childwall, and Bowring Park. For a while, it was even its own special voting area called a 'ward' in the Liverpool City Council.
What is Broadgreen Like?
Broadgreen used to be part of a bigger area called Lancashire. Today, it's mostly a place where people live. You'll find many houses here, both semi-detached (two houses joined) and detached (stand-alone).
It's a smaller neighborhood, so sometimes people talk about it along with bigger areas like Childwall or Knotty Ash. Broadgreen has important places like Broadgreen Hospital, Broadgreen Primary School, and Dixons Broadgreen Academy. These are key parts of the community.
This area is about one square mile in size. In 2001, almost 15,000 people lived here.
Getting Around Broadgreen
Broadgreen is easy to get to! It's near the end of the M62 motorway, which is a big road. This makes it simple to travel by car.
The area also has its own train station, Broad Green railway station. From here, you can catch trains to Liverpool city centre. You can also travel to other cities like Manchester, Wigan, and St Helens.
Famous People from Broadgreen
The actor Chris Mason grew up in Broadgreen. He is known for his roles in TV shows and movies.
