Brunnenthal was once a small town, or municipality, in the Bucheggberg district in Switzerland. It was part of the canton of Solothurn.

On January 1, 2010, Brunnenthal joined with two other towns, Balm bei Messen and Oberramsern. They all became part of the larger town of Messen.

History of Brunnenthal

Brunnenthal is an old place with a long history. The first time we see its name in old records was in 1387. Back then, it was called Wernher von Brunnental.

Later, in 1396, it was simply known as Brunental. These old names help us trace its past.

Geography and Landscape

Brunnenthal is a small area, about 0.88 square kilometers (0.34 square miles). A big part of this land, about 77%, is used for farming. This means there are lots of fields and open spaces.

About 10% of the area is covered by forests. The rest of the land, around 15%, has buildings and roads.

Brunnenthal is located in the Bucheggberg district. It sits on the northern edge of a flat area called the Rapperswil plateau. The town itself includes the main village of Brunnenthal. It also has two smaller settlements, or hamlets, called Burgsumpf and Burg.
